By far the best BBQ around (in Florida). My family and I have enjoyed and continue to enjoy Sugarboo's since they opened. I can only give a review for the pulled pork sandwiches, sweet potato salad, baked beans, their fabulously large brownies & key lime pie. My family always orders orders the same thing every time we visit. The pulled pork is excellent.. seasoned nicely, with a bit of a bite to it. The sauce is the cherry on the sundae. My husband makes it a point while we are traveling the south to try "hole in the wall" BBQ places. This one he can't take credit for.. And always uses it to set the bar too. "Is it as good, better, or no where close to Sugarboo's." So far.. We haven't found anything that even comes close.

It's pretty good home cooked BBQ. It's price is about average to other BBQ joints. The ribs were good, the brisket and pulled pork were good too. The Mac n Cheese was ok. the cole slaw was very interesting. Some people say it's in a bad part of Mt Dora, but whatever, it's on the same street as the police and fire station. My only thing was the BBQ sauce is very vinegar based. Which some like, some don't. I prefer the mustard, or tomato based sauces. So next time I will get no sauce and put my own on the meat.

Its not pretty but its great BBQ!. If you like Kings, you will love this place. From brisket to turkey legs to regular ol ribs. This place has the best BBQ in the area at a price point that can't be beat.

I like this spot. When I drove by it smelled like Jerk Chicken, like there is in Negril, Jamaica. I caught the scent & turned the car around & walked up to the counter. I asked what they were famous for & I was told, "everything." So I ordered a 1/2 rack of BBQ ribs (and plan on going back for the BBQ chicken). The BBQ ribs were awesome. The sauce is a little, actually a lot different than the BBQ sauce I am used to, from New England. But, I am always open to different adaptations (especially in different parts of the country). I loved those ribs. The building is cool, it's green. I uploaded a photo. It is very simple, however it has the convenience of a drive thru, if you want to call ahead. It's dark there as you're walking towards the counter, but it almost adds to the mystique of this spot. I think this place is so cool. I only wish they had t-shirts or some sort of sauce (maybe a hot sauce) I could take home with me. The name is funny, sugar-boos. I just like to say it, makes me laugh. Say it... Sugar Boo's. I brought the green menu home with me and hope to visit again, before we go home. Keep up the great work!! 5 Stars! Go there and tell all your friends to go there too!

I thought I'd add a review that was a bit more current, best bbq in 2011 doesn't really mean much in 2014. It's off the beaten path and there was no one else here and I didn't see that smoker out back in use so I was a little leery but we decided to try it anyways! We both had the brisket sandwich, she asked if we wanted bbq sauce on it and of course I said HELL YES! The beef was fall apart tender and super tasty BUT the bbq sauce is vinegar based (I believe N. Carolina style) which I am NOT a fan of so be warned. It actually ruined the sandwich a little for me but that's my fault. It may have be the best brisket sandwich ever if it had good bbq sauce on it! Sides were ok, we had coleslaw and beans. The beans are less sweet than some others I've had. The sweet tea isn't bad either. This place is worth a try if you're in MT. Dora and they have baby backs after 3pm!!! Outside seating only! **As a side note the restaurant next door is called Ivory's and the walk up window was super busy with locals the entire time we were eating!!!! (Southern style food)

Cute little BBQ place with amazing food and Southern charm. Potato salad was different than I'm used to but it was very good. Pulled pork Sandwich was clean and cooked well. BBQ sauce was vinegary but I like that as well. Key Lime pie topped off the meal.

Unless you've been living under a rock, you know that 4 Rivers has dominated the BBQ scene in Central Florida for the past year or so. I'm not here to knock it as I enjoy their food and business model. However, if we are to keep it all about the food...then I truly believe 4R is the second-best BBQ in Central Florida. The best is Sugarboo's. I don't know why it's spelled incorrectly above, but I assure you that it's Sugarboo's (not Sugerboo's). You won't find a winding line out the door, designed to create demand. You also won't find overpriced brisket and a glut of gourmet desserts (though the homemade key lime pie and brownies at Sugarboo's are sublime). What you'll find, right at Lincoln and Grandview in Mt. Dora, is a tiny little BBQ shack that flat-out excels when it comes to food. JT is the king of the smoker and serves up the most amazing and mouth-watering ribs, chicken, turkey legs, and wings you'll put in your mouth. The baked beans are spectacular, as is the potato salad and sweet potato casserole. I would much rather make the 45-minute drive from my house to Mt. Dora to visit this magnificent little hole in the wall BBQ shack than suffer through the line at 4Rivers. Again, nothing against 4R...I honestly like them a lot. I simply believe that you can find superior BBQ at Sugarboo's in Mount Dora. Don't believe me? Give them a shot and if I'm wrong, I'll humbly apologize and buy you a Cheerwine. Just make sure you hit them Thursday-Sunday as that's when they're open. It's much better that way.

We tried this place today and it was awesome! Ordered two dinners to bring home. First the brisket with potato salad and baked beans. Yum! Meat so tender and the BBQ sauce was a great flavor. The second was pulled pork with sweet potato casserole and broccoli casserole. My husband and I have been eating on the meals all afternoon it was so much food. We can't stop raving on the flavors, the quality of the food and the overall deliciousness. He wants to go back tomorrow for a large order of this potato salad,,,his personal favorite. Our total cost for the two meals was 23.54, so not bad considering we had it doe lunch, snack and dinner! The lady service us was very friendly. And if you call in your order early you can drive through and pick it up.

Okay I am just reviewing the jumbo smoked turkey leg from Sugarboo's. For me there are two things that make smoked turkey legs taste good. 1.) Smoked flavor and 2.) Seasonings. The turkey leg I had was missing both. First there was no hint of smoke to this turkey leg, leading me to believe that they do not smoke their meat. Secondly I can't believe they even tried to impart any flavor into this meat by dry rubbing or even brining. The meat looks as if its been par cooked and maybe then put on the "smoker". Remember there is no smoked flavor so it could not have been on there long. For the price you pay for the leg, $6.95 +tax. you should definitely get a 'smoked' turkey leg. I just recently had one from the Apopka fair and it was amazing. I was hoping that Sugarboo's was going to be were I could get my fix in between fairs. Not going to happen. I am not an absolute fan of their barbeque sauce either, but that is a matter of preference and not how it taste. The hot version was not bad, just too vinegary for my taste. I prefer tomato based sauces. All that being said, I will give them another shot with their other meats. Hopefully those will have the smoked flavor and smoke rings I am expecting. Especially since they have gotten such great reviews. The test will be their ribs. If I dish out the money to get some good smoked ribs and they have parboiled them, I will be done with Sugarboo's. Heads up Sugarboo's, potential lost customer in the making.

My husband and I had to try this restaurant after all the good reviews posted here. He tried the pork, and I, the brisket sandwiches. Our sides were coleslaw, beans and sweet potato casserole. I have to say, we enjoyed our sides better than we did the sandwiches. Both meats were a tad dry for our taste. Maybe we caught them on an off-day?

The real deal in Barbecue! Loved the smoked flavor, tender meat, amazing sweet potato casserole and backed beans. The only thing I thought could be better ? The sauce was a tat tangy for me, almost South Carolina style and a little more garlic bread would have been nice. Still, highly recommended!
